Think I'll drag this thread up from the dead and give an update.

My Galant has recently ticked over 400,000kms now. All going well.. except it has a big end bearing noise *doh*. It's still running smoothly though.. but dunno how long for.
Since I've been up in Hamilton, the Galant has been broken into twice, and the second time they cunts tried to take the whole car. I have to replace the window, locks, ignition barrel, some dash plastics, and give it a good tidy up as well. I've got some plans for the motor too, it will get a rebuild with new pistons, rings, bearings, and I've found some roller rockers and cam for the head too.

In the meantime, I've bought an '87 Sigma auto and fixed it up, then sold it, and now I've got an '82 TE71 RWD corolla 1.6 with twin carbs :D

Check out the dorifto action.

Just get an AUTO!!! So much easy and less to worry about (unless you own my vr4, then you have to get something fixed every week  )

Fuck autos. I wouldn't mind an auto if it were in a car I would only use to get to work and back, or just a runaround car for the city. But on the open road I absolutely love having a manual - so much more control over the car.

Autos are known to be unreliable compared to their manual counterparts.

My Sigma went through 3 auto boxes in the time I had it.

Is your VR-4 auto? Those auto boxes are just normal FWD boxes with the 4WD gear slapped onto it - they always crap out cause they can't handle the load.

What year is your VR-4? My Galant is an 89, with 10 owners and 400,000kms on the clock - hardly anything goes wrong with it - maybe it's how you treat the car?
